MAGNUM survey: Compact jets causing large turmoil in galaxies

Outflows accelerated by AGN are commonly observed in the form of coherent, mildly collimated high-velocity gas directed along ionisation cones and kinetically powerful (>$10^{44-45}$ erg/s) jets. Recent works found that outflows can also be low-power (<$10^{44}$ jets, most recent cosmological simulations indicate these dominant source feedback on sub-kpc scales. We study relation between radio jets distribution kinematics ionised IC 5063, NGC 5643, 1068, 1386 as part our MAGNUM survey nearby Seyfert galaxies. All objects host a small-scale (<1 kpc) jet has small inclinations (<45\deg) with respect to galaxy disc. employed seeing-limited optical integral field spectroscopic observations from MUSE at VLT obtain flux, kinematic, excitation maps extended gas, we compared archival images Chandra X-ray observations. detect strong (up >800-1000 km/s), (>1 shock-excited emission-line velocity spread perpendicular all four targets. These broad symmetric line profiles not associated single coherent differently 'classical' asymmetric-line outflow interpret phenomenon due action perturbing intense spreads indeed currently only galaxies hosting whose inclination is sufficiently low disc impact strongly affect its material. In simulations, results demonstrate capable affecting galaxy.
